EMI Music Canada and Distribution Fusion III Inc. are very proud to announce a new strategic alliance that is layered with synergies. This partnership targets growth, customer service and enhancement to artist and label services. On August 1, 2008, EMI will assume fulfillment responsibilities related to Fusion's new release and catalogue business in both physical and digital product offerings throughout Canada. Initial services include warehousing, fulfillment, invoicing and sales related administrative support. EMI will also provide TV/Film master synchronization and music placement services for Fusion, as well as office space in Toronto.
Fusion will continue to operate and focus on product management, sales, marketing/promotion and publicity for its roster of distributed labels. EMI's role is to augment all services currently being provided by Fusion to their business partners. This includes acting as a reinforcement and extension of Fusion's existing sales force allowing for greater coverage of retail accounts, consolidated shipments and overall improved delivery for clients. The further development of Fusion's digital and mobile business will also play an important role in this union. In the future Fusion has the option to access EMI's distribution network outside of Canada on a label basis or for artist upstreaming.
These two companies first forged a strong relationship when Fusion began representing EMI's French repertoire for Canada in 2007, which they will continue to do. Working together in a more substantial way to offer the best of both world's was a natural evolution. As the development of Canadian talent continues to be a priority for both, another primary focus of this arrangement is to create joint venture record deals which foster the progression of Canadian artists locally and abroad.
