June 19, 2009
CHRC releases the second edition of
The much anticipated 2009 edition of The Art of Managing Your Career - A Guide for the Canadian Artist and Self-Employed Cultural Worker is now available.
The new version includes fresh and original examples, brand-new links to several useful websites, and up-to-date information for the financial and technology sections. The guide also includes province specific examples and procedures along with all the useful information found in the original version.
First created in 2002, The Art of Managing Your Career has had a lasting success with self-employed artists and cultural workers for across the sector. Over the years, the Cultural Human Resources Council added discipline specific enhancements for craft, dance and choreography, film and television, music and sound recording, new media, theatre, visual arts, and writing.
The Art of Managing Your Career and its discipline enhancements were developed by artists and cultural workers from the following sub-sectors: live performing arts; writing and publishing; visual arts and craft; film, television and broadcasting; digital media; music and sound recording, and heritage to provide emerging self-employed artists and cultural workers with pertinent and practical information to better manage their careers.
The Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) is committed to strengthening the cultural labour force, and strives to be at the centre of vision and forward thinking in the area of cultural human resources development. CHRC brings together representatives of arts disciplines and cultural industries in the cultural sector to address the training and career development needs of employers and cultural workers including artists, technical staff and managers. This project is funded by the Government of Canada's Sector Council Program.
