CMW Announces Co-Chairs for Canadian Music Week 2010
CMW recently announced the Co-Chairs for Canadian Music Week 2010. They are David Corey (VP Programming, CHUM Radio / Program Director, 104.5 CHUM FM), Jeremy Summers (VP Marketing & Promotion, Universal Music Canada), Patti-Anne Tarlton (VP Live Entertainment, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd), and Pete Watson (Sr. Business Development Mgr., Research In Motion (RIM) ). To read more about he Co-Chairs click the link below. Bios: David Corey is the Vice President of Programming for CHUM Radio and the Program Director of 104.5 CHUM FM in Toronto. In this capacity, he is responsible for the division's national programming initiatives as well as the management of all aspects of the Toronto-based 104.5 CHUM FM brand, overseeing the programming, management and marketing of Canada's #1 FM radio station, 104.5 CHUM FM. Corey joined 104.5 CHUM FM in 2006 and came to us from Boston, Massachusetts where he was the Assistant Program Director/Music Director at Boston's foremost FM station, WXKS FM (Kiss 108). In his 22 years at Kiss 108, Corey worked with some of the best radio program directors in the U.S., including John Ivey (now at KIIS FM Los Angeles), Steve Rivers (Z100 New York) and Cadillac Jack, (Kiss 108 /Jammin' Boston). Corey was nominated as Music Director of the Year by industry trade Radio & Records in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2005. As well as managing Kiss 108, David also was Brand Manager for Clear Channel's New England stations, and developed the music programming for the very successful launch of WKTU New York. Jeremy Summers is a 15 year Canadian label veteran who began his career in Sales for A&M/Island/Motown Records. Since then, he has held the regional positions of Promotion Representative, and Promotion Manager, Mid-West Region before relocating to Toronto for Universal Music, as head of National Promotion. He grew to Vice President in the Promotion field, and now leads the day-to-day functions of Universal's prestigious Interscope Label as Vice President, Marketing and Promotion, while overseeing Universal's Catalogue Marketing and Strategic Marketing divisions. He is entrusted to create the Canadian strategies behind International superstars like The Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, and Rise Against, and proud to work in support of many of Canada's greatest entertainers like The Tragically Hip, and The Trews. His team is currently crafting the domestic unveiling for Universal artists The Ending, and Down With Webster, and celebrating the successful launch of music careers for Shiloh, and Stereos. Patti-Anne Tarlton As Vice President, Live Entertainment for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd. (MLSE), Patti-Anne's mandate is to maximize programming around the commitments of the resident major league teams at all MLSE venues: NHL Toronto Maple Leafs, NBA Toronto Raptors, NLL Toronto Rock, MLS TFC and AHL Toronto Marlies. Patti-Anne and her team oversee the execution of all live events at Air Canada Centre, Ricoh Coliseum and BMO Field. Tarlton's portfolio includes a great variety of sporting events, concerts, family events, trade shows, charity events and an extensive private business. She began her career in the live event business in Vancouver at Perryscope Concerts in 1985, moved to Donald K Donald Productions in Montreal and was with House of Blues Concerts in Toronto prior to joining Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd six months after the doors opened at Air Canada Centre. Pete Watson After spending many years as a touring musician and working in the music business from all facets as a producer, designer, and even retail music store manger; Pete made a career move and joined Universal Music Canada fulltime in the mid 1990s. Initially working in marketing and promotion Pete’s keen interest and knowledge of new technology and the nascent “world wide web” secured him a position with Universal that would allow him to help build the company’s online presence and New Media team. Working with artists and within the industry Pete gained considerable knowledge and insight into how music and technology would be critical to the music business of tomorrow. After working on numerous digital and mobile music initiatives for Universal Music the transition to Research In Motion Limited in early 2007 as Senior Business Development Manager for consumer applications was a natural evolution for Pete’s continued interest in technology and content. With RIM expanding its BlackBerry line of industry leading smartphones to appeal to consumers as well as business and enterprise users, Pete was brought into the BlackBerry ISV Alliances Group as team lead for consumer applications. Having successfully established strong partnerships and launched applications with content and consumer leaders such as: ESPN, MLB, Napster, XM Radio, Slacker, The New York Times, CNN, NBC Universal, MTV, BBC, TiVo, SlingBox and many more; Pete has transitioned his humble musician beginnings into an active role that is helping to shape the way consumers will interact with their mobile devices from one of the leading brands in the world.
