DreamWorks Music Publishing Sold

DreamWorks Music Publishing has been sold to private investment company JDS Capital Management, Inc. of New York. The value of the deal was not disclosed. DreamWorks Music Publishing has a catalogue of 7,000 songs which will be folded into Dimensional Music Publishing, JDS Capital’s other music publishing business.

JDS Capital also owns the digital music service eMusic and digital music distributor The Orchard. A spokesman for JDS said the company will buy more songs and build up its publishing assets by exploiting the ringtone and video game markets and expanding into international markets. Music that is created by DreamWorks affiliates for movies and television shows is not included in the sale.

Last year, DreamWorks Records was sold to Universal Music Group for around $100 million (U.S.).
