The Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) is pleased to be partnering with Nordicity (with support from provincial and territorial Music Industry Associations) to launch an important study about Canada's independent music community. This study will firmly establish the actual economic impact that independent music has in Canada, both from a regional and national perspective.

But we need YOUR help in order to make this project a success.

The survey will help Nordicity to examine and accurately calculate the vital contributions of all parts of Canada's independent  music 'supply chain', including: labels, managers, publishers, distributors, promoters, artists and the many others who account for the economic activity created by independent music.

WHY are we doing this?

The answer is simple:
....governments who make decisions which affect the music industry
....public and private sector funders which provide much needed revenues to the music sector
....media who write about music and can influence public opinion
....ALL need to have an accurate knowledge of WHO we are, WHAT we do, and the important CONTRIBUTION that we make in terms of jobs created, taxes paid and revenues generated... all to the benefit of the provincial and Canadian economies.

Without this accurate knowledge, governments and funders may not be able to make informed decisions about the best level of support for the industry that is necessary for us to grow, compete and thrive. 

And when CIMA talks to these important decision-makers on YOUR behalf, we need to ensure that we have as much relevant information about you as possible. 

To that end, we need your help in collecting the data that is necessary to complete this study.
